Distances are approximate and depend on the exact property, room block and gate, so we confirm the specific hotel and its walking distance for your dates before you pay. Our closest hotels are verified against on-the-ground reports: at the 5-star level, Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana, in the Abraj Al Bait complex, is approx. 2 to 3 minutes' walk (around 150 metres) from Masjid al-Haram, and in Madinah, Dar Al Taqwa is approx. 2 to 4 minutes from Masjid an-Nabawi. Our 3-star hotels, such as Al Kiswah Towers, are approx. 15 to 20 minutes' walk, with a free shuttle at busy times.

In Madinah, hotel distances are measured to Masjid an-Nabawi. Room sharing sets the per-person price: quad sharing is the most economical, triple sits in the middle, and double gives couples and small families more privacy.

Our 3-star tier puts you approx. 15 to 20 minutes' walk from Masjid al-Haram, with a free shuttle running at the busiest prayer times, and approx. 10 to 15 minutes from Masjid an-Nabawi once you reach Madinah. Rooms are clean and practical rather than spacious, and you can share quad, triple or double. Quad sharing is what holds the per-person price down, which is why groups travelling as one party book this tier more than any other, along with pilgrims working to a fixed budget.

4-Star Umrah Packages: From £765pp

Move up to 4-star and the walk to Masjid al-Haram falls to approx. 7 to 10 minutes, with Madinah hotels approx. 5 to 8 minutes from Masjid an-Nabawi. Rooms are larger and breakfast is usually included, which takes one decision off your hands every morning. This is the tier most families settle on. The walk is short enough to manage several times a day with children, and you avoid the premium that comes with the towers sitting directly beside the Haram.

5-Star Umrah Packages: From £825pp

At 5-star you are as close as our hotels go. Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana sits inside the Abraj Al Bait complex, approx. 2 to 3 minutes' walk from Masjid al-Haram, around 150 metres, and it has a prayer hall connected to the Haram itself. For elderly pilgrims, or for anyone who finds the walk difficult by the fifth prayer of the day, that connection often matters more than the size of the room. Our 14-night option uses DoubleTree by Hilton Jabal Omar, which sits a little further out at approx. 5 to 10 minutes. In Madinah, Dar Al Taqwa is approx. 2 to 4 minutes from Masjid an-Nabawi. Families with young children book this tier for the same reason older pilgrims do: you can go back to the room between prayers instead of waiting it out.

How Do I Choose the Right Umrah Package?

Four questions usually settle it.

• How close do you want to be? Distance to Masjid al-Haram drives the price and it drives how tiring the trip feels. If you are walking to the mosque five times a day with children or elderly relatives, what you pay at 4 or 5-star buys back time and energy. If a short walk or a shuttle ride does not trouble you, 3-star leaves more of your budget for the rest of the trip.
• How much leave do you have? Seven nights covers one Umrah and the main sites without rushing. Ten nights is the length most of our pilgrims choose, because it makes room for a second Umrah. Fourteen nights suits families and anyone who would rather not watch the clock.
• When can you travel? Your dates move the price more than your hotel does. A 4-star package in late January can come in under a 3-star package in Ramadan.
• Who is sharing the room? Quad sharing is the most economical, triple sits in between, and a double room gives couples and small families their privacy.

Travel dates move the price most. January, February and the early summer are usually the quietest and cheapest; Ramadan, December and Easter carry the highest prices because flights and Makkah hotels fill at the same time. Every price includes return flights, both hotels, all transfers and Nusuk visa support; meals and guided Ziyarat are optional add-ons.

How Booking Works — Step by Step

4. Pay the balance in instalments, cleared before you travel.
5. Receive your pre-departure pack (tickets, hotel vouchers, transfers and itinerary) before you fly.

Flights and UK Departure Airports

We book flights from London Heathrow (LHR), Birmingham (BHX), Manchester (MAN), Leeds Bradford (LBA), Glasgow (GLA) and Gatwick (LGW), on airlines including Saudia, British Airways and Turkish Airlines, with Pegasus and other carriers on some routes. On current schedules, direct flights to Jeddah (King Abdulaziz International Airport, JED) run from Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham; from other UK airports your route includes one connection. Madinah arrivals, into Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED), are usually via a connection, and any direct UK–Madinah routes are limited and seasonal. Flight schedules change through the year, so we confirm the available routes and airlines for your dates at the quotation stage.

The Umrah Visa, and What It Actually Costs

Most UK passport holders currently travel for Umrah on the Saudi tourist eVisa, which allows Umrah outside the Hajj season. Two other routes exist: a dedicated Umrah visa, and the Saudi Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which replaced the older Electronic Visa Waiver for eligible travellers from 1 July 2026. Which route fits depends on your passport and dates, and visa rules are set by the Saudi authorities, so we confirm the current position for your trip. The visa fee is set by the Saudi authorities and paid on the official Saudi platform. It is a government charge, not an agency mark-up. Separately, every pilgrim needs an Umrah permit issued through Nusuk, the platform run by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Our role is Nusuk support and guidance: we tell you what to submit, check your documents, and guide your application so it is not refused over a small mistake. We do not add a hidden visa charge on top of your package.

Entry Requirements for UK Pilgrims

Requirements are set by the Saudi authorities and can change, so we confirm the current rules for your travel dates before you pay. As a general guide, you will need:

• A valid visa or permit for Umrah, and a Nusuk permit for each visit, including your Rawdah slot in Madinah, which is limited, so book early.
• The MenACWY (meningitis ACWY) vaccination, currently required for pilgrims and given at least 10 days before arrival. Keep the certificate with your documents.
• A passport valid for at least six months, generally with two blank pages.

Preparing for Umrah — How It Works and What to Visit

If this is your first Umrah, the ritual itself is shorter than most people expect, and takes only a few hours once you begin. You enter the state of ihram at the Miqat, the boundary point on the way to Makkah, make your intention and recite the Talbiyah, then perform tawaf (seven circuits of the Kaaba inside Masjid al-Haram), sa'i (walking seven lengths between the hills of Safa and Marwah), and finish by trimming or shaving the hair. That completes the Umrah. To perform a second Umrah, you leave the Haram boundary and re-enter ihram, usually from Masjid Aisha at Tan'im.

Beyond the Umrah itself, most pilgrims set aside time for Ziyarat. In and around Makkah, that includes Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba, the hills of Safa and Marwah, and the mountains of Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira) and Jabal al-Thawr. In Madinah, the focus is Masjid an-Nabawi and the Rawdah, along with historic sites such as Masjid Quba, Masjid al-Qiblatayn, Mount Uhud and the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery. Access to the Rawdah is booked through Nusuk, and slots are limited, so we help you secure one early.

Your package includes private, air-conditioned transport between Makkah and Madinah by road; the two cities are approximately 420 km apart, around four to five hours' drive. The Haramain High-Speed Railway also links the two cities in about two and a half hours, but it is not part of our packages.

Tips from Our Umrah Team

A few things our specialists tell UK pilgrims before they travel:

• Book your Rawdah slot on the Nusuk app as soon as your permit is issued. Slots open in limited windows and go quickly, especially in Ramadan.
• Pack your ihram in your hand luggage. Depending on your routing, you may need to enter ihram at the Miqat before you land or on the coach, so keep it within reach.
• The calmest times for tawaf are usually after Fajr and late at night; the heaviest crowds are right after Maghrib and Isha.
• Travelling with elderly pilgrims? Ask us about hotels with a prayer hall connected to the Haram, such as Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana, so they can pray without the walk on tiring days.
• Keep a printed and a phone copy of your ATOL Certificate, hotel vouchers and visa documents. It saves time at hotel check-in and at the airport.

When to Go — Seasons, Ramadan and the 2027 Hajj Period

Timing changes both the price and the experience. January, February and the early summer are the quietest and usually the cheapest. Ramadan is the busiest and most sought-after time, and carries a real premium. In 2027 it is expected to begin around 8 February, so packages for that window open well ahead and fill quickly.

Ramadan books up earliest and has its own permit rules through Nusuk, which the Saudi authorities set year to year. Booking three to six months ahead is sensible, as flights and Makkah hotels fill first.

Umrah also pauses for the Hajj season. Hajj 2027 is expected in mid-May, Umrah visas are not issued during the Hajj period, and the new Umrah season is expected to reopen around early June 2027. We keep these dates under review and confirm what is bookable for your plans.

Booking timeline: book 4 to 8 weeks ahead for off-peak months, and 3 to 6 months ahead for Ramadan, December and Easter. Rawdah slots in Madinah are limited, so secure those as early as you can.

Umrah Packages for Families, Couples, Groups and Women

We build packages around who is travelling:

• Family packages: connecting or adjacent rooms, child and infant pricing, and an itinerary paced for younger travellers. Children can perform Umrah at any age, though a child's Umrah does not count as their obligatory one once they reach adulthood.
• Couple Umrah packages: double-room accommodation in both cities, with the husband as the wife's mahram for travel. Each traveller needs their own Nusuk permit, but you share one booking.
• Group packages: quad sharing and a single co-ordinated booking for the whole group: one flight booking, one transport allocation.
• Women's and first-time Umrah packages: women aged 18 and over may perform Umrah without a mahram under current Saudi policy, and we arrange women's group departures with a slower, well-supported pace for first-time pilgrims. Whether a mahram is required for travel is a point on which the schools of Islamic law differ, so it stays a personal decision.
