Three things make November stand out for pilgrims travelling from the UK.

The weather is comfortable

November is much cooler than summer. In the daytime, Makkah is usually around 25–35°C, and Madinah is a little cooler. In the evenings, both drop to about 18–22°C. This makes Tawaf and Sa'i easier to perform, especially if you are travelling with children or older family members.

The crowds are lighter

November falls outside Ramadan, the main school holidays and the December peak, so you tend to find shorter waits, calmer conditions for reaching the Black Stone during Tawaf, and better hotel availability.

Prices are lower

Airlines and hotels sit between their autumn and winter peaks, so a package that costs more in December can often be booked for noticeably less in November.

Umrah visa, Nusuk and the Rawdah permit

Health and vaccinations

The MenACWY meningitis vaccination is mandatory for Umrah and must be given at least 10 days before you travel. Your GP or a travel clinic can provide it along with the certificate, which you carry with you. Check any personal medication you may need for the trip as well.

Ziyarat and the rites of Umrah

Umrah begins in the state of Ihram, followed by Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. Beyond the rites, most pilgrims add Ziyarat to the historic sites. In Madinah these include Masjid Quba, Masjid Qiblatain, Mount Uhud and Jannat al-Baqi; near Makkah, Jabal al-Noor (the Cave of Hira), Jabal Thawr, Mina and Arafat.
